Ayurveda is the "sister science" of yoga and is said to be the oldest form of medicine on the planet. It differs from conventional medicine in that it pays great respect to each individual as a unique being in nature while managing the ongoing imbalances we endure from day to day, season to season, year to year. Ayurveda fully embraces the idea of daily care and routines that will keep us from being imbalanced to the point of dis-ease.
In this workshop you will learn the foundations on which Ayurveda is largely based. These are logical concepts that are both easy to learn and to weave into your current yoga and health practices.
- Dosha or prakriti (the inherent tendencies based upon your physique, physiology, and psyche)
- Vikruti (the state of imbalance that we experience on a large and small scale)
- Basic daily practices (dinacharya) to prevent imbalance
- The 5 elements of which our dosha/prakriti is based
- The 20 gunas or attributes which describe each element and dosha
